- Four-year letter-winner in baseball, football and basketball.
- Also earned one letter in track.
- All-Conference First Team and All-State Second Team in football in 1935.
- His 20-yard field goal beat Hampden-Sydney 3-0 in 1937.
- His blocked punt downed Hampden-Sydney 9-7 in 1938.
- All-Conference in baseball at third base in 1936.
- Played pro football following graduation for the Richmond Arrows and the York (Pa.) Vikings.
- Earned master’s degree from North Carolina in 1949.
- Became a teacher and coach in Boykins, Varina, Martinsville, Staunton and Bassett.
- Was certified to teach Latin, French, English and social studies.
- At Augusta Military Academy in Staunton, guided football, basketball and baseball teams to state military school championship for two consecutive years.
- Served as principal at Campbell Court Elementary School in Bassett as well as at Bassett High School.
- Served as president of District VI of the Virginia Athletic Conference.
- Was instrumental in organizing the Blue Ridge and Piedmont districts.
- President of Bassett Kiwanis Club.
- Member of Bassett Country Club and helped spearhead building of a new clubhouse.
- Retired in 1979 as director of federal programs for the Henry County school system.
- Passed away in 2004 at the age of 89.
