  • Four-year letterman in baseball and basketball.
  • Earned three letters in football and one in track.
  • Considered one of best all-around athletes in R-MC history.
  • Elected to Omicron Delta Kappa in 1938.
  • Captain of baseball team in 1939.
  • Member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
  • Played semi-pro baseball following graduation.
  • Served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.
  • Spent 35 years at Randolph-Macon Academy as a teacher, coach and athletic director.
  • Received the Distinguished Alumni Award from R-MC.
  • His son Charlie graduated from R-MC in 1970.
  • Remained active and continued to play tennis into his 80s.
  • Passed away in 2006 at the age of 91.
