- Four-year letterman in baseball and basketball.
- Earned three letters in football and one in track.
- Considered one of best all-around athletes in R-MC history.
- Elected to Omicron Delta Kappa in 1938.
- Captain of baseball team in 1939.
- Member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
- Played semi-pro baseball following graduation.
- Served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.
- Spent 35 years at Randolph-Macon Academy as a teacher, coach and athletic director.
- Received the Distinguished Alumni Award from R-MC.
- His son Charlie graduated from R-MC in 1970.
- Remained active and continued to play tennis into his 80s.
- Passed away in 2006 at the age of 91.
